The Everyday Superheroes Fanfic Challenge! (Wow, that sounds so official.)
You guys know me. I'm a huge crossover/AU whore. While I may not be as involved in the X-Men fandom as I was last year, I'm also pretty sure that I'm going to be Marvel's bitch for most of the foreseeable future. And I'm of the firm belief that everything's better with people who can shoot lasers from their eyes.
...okay, maybe not so much on the last part. But regardless! I'd like to issue a challenge.
Here's how it goes: Pick a fandom. Any fandom, though the more "ordinary" the better. Toss in a few X-Men-style mutations -- telekinesis, pyrokinesis, metamorphic abilities, whatever floats your boat. Give them to your favourite non-superhero characters, either as a spontaneous manifestation or (if you want to make things even more fun) as something they've lived with all their lives. Then shake it up and serve in a deliciously cracktastic bit of fanfic.
Come on, I can't be the only one who's wondered how Norrington would react if he suddenly had a set of claws shoot out of his knuckles, or what Sawyer would do if he discovered he could freeze things with a touch. And just what the hell would the Serenity crew say if Mal started levitating their dishes at breakfast one morning?
I don't think I'm going to put a deadline on this for now, because strict deadlines are no fun and we've all got enough of those already. Let's just shoot for some nebulous period in early to mid-March and see how that works. If you end up writing something, by all means, post a link here so everybody can shower you with praises and confetti :)
So who else is game? Anyone? Bueller?
